Hatchback car being towed in city

Having your car towed isn’t just an immediate hassle, you also have to figure out where it went after that. So, where do cars go when they’re towed in Chicago? Let’s find out.

Where did my car go in Chicago?

You can find your vehicle by filling out the form here. According to the, there are multiple auto-pounds where your car could be taken after it has been towed. So, if you have an unpaid parking ticket, red light tickets, or other reasons to be towed, you’ll need to fill out the form linked above in order to find which auto-pound your vehicle has been taken to. Once you find it, you can get in touch with that auto-pound to determine pickup time and payment methods.

Who do I pay to get my car out of the auto-pound?

If your vehicle has been towed, you’ll have a few fees that will need to be paid, including   things like the boot fees, towing fees, and storage fees. These can add up, so expect to pay at least $250, if not more. The storage fees can add up the longer your vehicle is in the auto-pound, so if your vehicle has been towed, it’s best to pay the fees and get it out as soon as possible. You can pay the auto-pound directly in order to get your vehicle out.

What happens if I don’t pay the auto-pound fees?

If you decide not to pay the fees in order to get your vehicle out of the auto-pound, then your vehicle will be subject to either auction or demolition after 21 days. However, if you have a legitimate reason to extent the grace period before this happens, then you’ll need to get in touch with the auto pound, as you can potentially receive a 15-day extension.

Continental Motors of Naperville test-drives for a cause

Did you know that autism statistics from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) identify around one in 68 American children as on the autism spectrum?

For the past six years, Continental Motors of Naperville has taken part to increase autism awareness through the offer of a $20 donation for every test drive taken within the month of April. Across our three Naperville locations (Continental Mazda, Continental Acura, and Continental Audi), 478 test drives were given. At the end of the month, we raised $9,560 for the Turning Pointe Autism Foundation.

All funds raised throughout the campaign went directly to fund the Turning Pointe Autism Foundation’s many programs and resources for families with autism. Turning Pointe provides families essential support while managing the challenges faced by children with Autism. The foundation is based in Naperville.

“We applaud their innovative programs and approach that help those affected navigate through life’s challenges,” Dealer Principal Joel Weinberger said.

For the event, we opened up our test track to give drivers the ultimate opportunity to experience the true power and capability of our vehicles from our dealerships.

“The test drive event enables us to showcase our great Naperville Test Track facility and demonstrate why Naperville Test Track members like Continental Acura, Audi, and Mazda offer the best test drive available in Chicagoland,” Weinberger said. “We have donated $20 per test drive each April, resulting in over $40,000 from Continental over the past six years.”

Thank you to all who participated in this annual event. For more information on Continental Motors of Naperville, visit

Are you free from distractions while on the road?

Thursday, April 28th, 2016

Did you know that April is Distracted Driving Awareness month?

While the month is almost over, it’s always crucial that you maintain focused driving wherever and whenever you go.

We’ll admit, smartphones are addicting, and it can be hard to ignore that new Facebook notification or hilarious Snapchat from you best friend.

But all that we ask is that you put it away when you’re behind the wheel. And no, red lights are still not okay.

So, how can you do this?

Hide your phone

Out of sight, out of mind. Put your phone somewhere that you won’t be tempted to check it. Zip it up in your purse or hide it in a pocket in your gym bag. Keep it out of reach if you have to, like in your backseat so you won’t even think about it. If it’s easily visible, you’ll jump back into the habit of picking it up and checking it every so often throughout the ride.

Eat before/after

Distracted driving doesn’t just happen when you’re on your phone. Snack smart and avoid eating while behind the wheel. A spill of hot coffee on your lap or a messy burger will not only leave a mess in your beautiful clean car, but will also distract you from keeping your eyes on the road. Make it a habit to meals or snacks before or after your trip. Plan to make a stop somewhere to eat on long road trips if possible.

Dress to impress before/after

It’s nice that your vehicle has a handy pull-down mirror and accompanied light, but it’s not meant to be used when the car’s in drive. Whether you need to do your makeup or floss your teeth, save some time before or after your trip to get it done. Not only does it distract your from your surroundings, but could also cause further injury if you were to have an accident.

Decide on your playlist first

If you’re in for a long drive, you want to find that perfect playlist that’ll get you through, but during your drive is not the time to search for it. Have you music planned out before you hit the road. Have some fun with it and make a custom playlist on your phone or computer, so that you won’t have to worry about searching for the next best track.

Keep pets in check

Your pets probably love going for a ride in the car (unless it’s to the vet). And while they may get excited, you need to ensure that they are secured to prevent them from getting in the way of your focus. If your pets require any attention, pull off to the side of the road to take care of what’s necessary. Reaching to the back gives you a greater chance of losing control of the car.

Ask for a helping hand

If you need to send a message to someone, or make a call, have your passenger in the car take care of it for you. Their help will free up your hands and allow you to place all of your focus on the road ahead.

Take some time today and make a pledge to be a safer driver. What could you improve to increase your attention to the road and make driving safer for everyone?
