The 2020 Mazda CX-5 maintains the excellent quality and features of years past while adding a few pleasant updates. There are newly standard features, design upgrades for more sensory pleasure, and a performance boost on the higher trims. It also gets a new key fob design and new font for all badging and interior text.

The base Sport trim of the 2020 CX-5 now comes standard with the i-Activsense driver assist suite. In addition, this trim gains automatic headlights and rain-sensing wipers. Due to the additions, the base MSRP also goes up $740.

Other trims have smaller price increases ranging from $115 to $165. Those with the optional turbocharged engine gain an extra 10 lb-ft of torque, bringing the total up to 320 lb-ft with premium gas. There’s also an Engine Harmonics Enhancer, to improve engine sound, and more insulation from road noise for higher levels of interior peace. In addition, these upper trims get a new, larger 8-inch touchscreen.

Models equipped with the base naturally aspirated 2.5-liter inline-four engine gain a new display that shows the status of the cylinder deactivation system. There’s also a new “off-road traction assist” button that causes the traction-control system to stop restricting engine torque, while also applying braking to wheels that are lacking traction.
