2016 Audi A4 vs 2016 Acura TLX
Both these luxury sedans have a lot to offer -- appealing design, strong performance across a variety of different powertrain configurations, interior comfort, and a lavish assortment of high-tech features. Yet while both the Audi A4 and the Acura TLX deliver quality across all these categories, each one has its own set of details that make it unique. And there are a lot of details to cover.
While the 2016 Audi A4 still offers the same 2.0L turbocharged I-4 engine in all models, it can be paired with 6-speed manual, 8-speed automatic, or CVT transmissions to give some variety in the driving experience. Front-wheel drive CVT models have the best fuel economy, while test drivers say either the manual or automatic with Quattro all-wheel drive offer the most enjoyable drive. In contrast, the 2016 Acura TLX has either a 2.4L I-4 / 8-speed dual clutch combo, or a 3.5L V-6 engine paired with 9-speed auto. These can be either front-wheel or all-wheel drive, and all-wheel drive models also add the Precision All-Wheel Steer system, which enhances agility and stability even more.
Moving on to comfort and design -- the Acura TLX is larger than the Audi, both inside and out. So, while the Audi A4 looks sportier, the Acura TLX offers mid-size room at a compact footprint. Both models' cabins provide a comfortable, quiet ride, especially the TLX's, but the Audi A4's has a more attractive look, with leather upholstery standard on even the base models. And both models offer a massive array of tech and convenience features. Here are a few of the highlights.
An Abundance of Options
Besides those comfy leather seats, other standard features for the 2016 Audi A4 include Audi's MMI infotainment system, satellite radio, and a power sliding sunroof. Some of the most notable options available include a Bang & Olufsen sound system, blind spot monitor, xenon lighting, navigation system with Audi Connect, the Premium Plus package with 3-zone climate control, rain/light sensors, and auto-dimming mirror among other extras, and a Sport package with upgrades to the suspension and seats.
On the 2016 Acura TLX's end, standard equipment includes LED daytime running lights and automatic headlights, heated side mirrors, Siri Eyes Free interface, Bluetooth, and Sirius XM radio. The additional Technology package adds on a full navigation system with 3d view, upgraded audio system, AcuraLink infotainment, and a host of high-tech driver assistance safety systems. The Advance Package includes all of that technology as well, plus adaptive cruise control, collision braking, parking sensors, and heated and ventilated seats.
